​When I was a senior in high school, I had study hall the last hour each day. My seat was surrounded by girls!!! That was nice!

If you got caught chewing gum in the study hall you had to give it to the teacher and you had to go stand on the stage in front of the whole class and then you were at their mercy as some would throw pennies at you! Well I always had a pack of Chiclets gum with me and the girls that sat around me knew it and they would ask me for a piece and if I said “No!” they would threaten to tell the teacher so I would give in and share. 

One morning when I was at home and getting ready for school, I was in the bathroom by the medicine cabinet, and I spotted some weight loss gum my mom had? I took some of my Chiclets out and put the new cherry flavored gum in! When I got to the study hall that day I went back to visit with the teacher, and he spotted the gum box I had in my pocket!

He said, “Mike! Give me the gum!”

Then I told him “It’s not gum! It’s…?!?!”

He then asked me why I had that.

I told him, “I was tired of those girls begging gum off me!”

He started to laugh and told me to go sit down!

It wasn’t too long before the girls hit me up for gum and I shared with them!

Only one of the three that chewed it said, “What the heck is this stuff?”

I told her, “A new flavor of Chiclets!”

She replied, “Chiclets doesn’t have cherry flavor.”

I told her that it had just come out!

The next day that girl hunted me down and chewed me out! She said, “Whatever that gum was wasn’t gum!!!”

One of the other girls said later that day, “I don’t want any more of your gum!” 

No one wanted gum anymore! 

I always wondered why Mom had that stuff? I guess it did work!
